This cluster contributes critical digital humanities research, research creation projects, arts-based projects and installations in digital cultural heritage. Specifically, this cluster unpacks how AI impacts creativity in the fine arts, adding critical approaches to the use of AI in music, film and literature. This involves creating proofs-of-concept, designing experiences for immersive tech in augmented reality and virtual reality, creative composition, all forms of research creation, and artistic practices.
Cluster Leader
Délon Omrow is an artist and a published academic. He is three-time Canadian Latin Grammy nominee, a two-time Oshawa Music Award winner and has been featured on CBC Music’s SearchLight 2023 Top 100 List for his single “Peace & Love”, produced by Grammy-nominated producer StoneBridge. With Digital Life Institute, he contributes interdisciplinary Indigenous-led research on topics such as Indigenization and (Decolonization) of AI. He also explores the use of artificial intelligence in the music industry, critically analyzing how the landscape of music production has evolved as a result of AI and how it is used by artists in creative (and ethical) pursuits along the lines of intersectional identities . He is published in many academic journals including The Journal of Philosophy and Culture, Nature Sustainability, Journal of Media and Communication Studies and European Journal of Research in Social Sciences.
